When is the best time to take pictures I recently bought a book about how to become better stock photographer. Some years ago I did read all kinds of magazines and books about how to this and how to that in Photography. I felt like i might need to update my self.

Bordaux, France

Unfortunately, like many other how to books, this book did little for me photography wise but gave me some tips on the business site. Most guide books of this sort are written for American market and that market is in many ways stale. It is old fashioned and the changes come slow. Things change faster in Europe and the variety of pictures used is bigger. Why this is i do not know as many of the photo blogs you find on the web point to the opposite.

Why not shoot in the middle of the day One of the things stated in the book was that you either take pictures in the morning or in the afternoon. All other times just gave ugly pictures. Of course this is total bull!"#$%& to say the least. You can make interesting images all through the day and night. It is just the question what you are after. For example when the sun is high in the air and the shadows are deep and hard you can go about and use just that. Play with shadows.

They want some dramatic in the picture and if you have a landscape picture, clouds can build up this dramatic. Even in a sunny picture they do help. Architectural cloud i believe the term is I heard many years ago. One icelandic photographer Sigurgeir Sigurjónsson is a master in using the clouds in his pictures.

Shoot when its overcast Overcast makes a dull and flat uninteresting image is an other statement. This again is not all true. If you look at he style of pictures that are most popular to day the light is very flat. It is not my cup of tea but if used right it can make an interesting image.

Good weather or bad weather Most people go out to take pictures when the weather is good. You can in fact make very interesting images in bad weather. Fog is difficult but can give nice effects and when the storm is blowing and it is snowing you can get some really fun images. I prefer bot so good to bad weather to go out and make some black and white images. Then you can have some beautiful cloud scape and lot of dramatic The company and this website gets its name from the Greek goddess of morning light. Light I find to be the most beautiful. The most beautiful light I have come acrooss is the morning light in summer time between 2:30 and 4 a clock in Iceland. There simply is nothing to beat it yet. Capturing the atmosphere of it can be really difficult but when you get this blue pink color of the sky along with glowing houses it can be amazing.

So when is the best time to take pictures The answer is very simple. When you feel like it. When ever it delivers a beautiful image. There are no limits but in your mind.
