1001 phtography motive # 74 Empty beach
Visiting Long beach in Louisiana in the year 2006, just about 6 months after hurricane Katrina hit the coast was a strange felling of emptyness and sadness. Driving around in this area show devestating effect of the tidal waves that followed the hurricane and the resulting lost homes, broken homes and homes found as debris in the ocean.
Because of this, the beach was closed and empty. It still when I was on my way back from Central America in 2008 and stopped by in the area. Then I shot this image and it is on pare with other images I shot in the area. Not much had changed. Beach still empty.
The resent oil spill disaster is not going to help the rebuilding of this area. Wildlife as well as the life of those living there, fishermen and others is now endangered.
This shows us that we, the human race, can never be to careful when dealing with mother nature. We have to think about what effect on the environment our action can have.
My book USA My Way is now out at last and has been published through BLURB. You can see it here and if you like it buy it.
More images from the trip and the book can also be seen in USA My Way gallery here. There are few images that did not make it into the book but they are in USA My Way slideshow.
