Workflow in the digital age
Life and work flow in digital age
As I will be stationed back home in Iceland this winter I have been using the opportunity to refine my workflow basing it on fast turnaround and increased efficiency in my work.
As I can now, opposite from being on the road, make the most of technology, why not do it to the fullest.
That is the reason why I have now re organized my workflow so that I barely use any thing else but Adobe lightroom today.
It is a shame for Extensis Portfolio, but they have not been able to keep up with changes lately.
It took me a while to figure it out how to do it and set it up so things work fast and with out confusion, but boy do I like it to day. Yes I do.
Still I do need my Adobe Photoshop software to work. It is to day just like the darkroom was before, un separable from photography. At least my visions in photography.
Beside the Adobe products I do use Photoshelter now that DRR is dead. I was any ways going to change as I found Digital Railroad not to be working as well as
Now I can shoot and deliver through Lightroom and I am more than happy.
The other day I did the first real test on this workflow.
With a little help from the Canon capture software I can shoot tethered, import automatically into Lightroom which applies basic development, metadata and keywords. From there on its just life as usual working on those files, until I export and upload to Photoshelter. This time there was no need for any Photoshop trickery so the images only went through Lightroom.
I got the products needed to be shot about 10 in the morning and by 4 a clock the client had the images at my Photoshelter site ready for download.
While I am writing this Lightroom is working on uploading stock images (the one above) to my Photoshelter site
Life can be good
