1001 photography motive # 71 Active Volcano
After a tuff hike and no luck I got up early on easter morning and gave some shots a try in the twilight. It gave ok result but not what I had been expecting to get from this small but active volcano in Fimvorduhals in Iceland. The distance was to great for that so there was no way other than to strap on those hiking boots
and take an other hike into the mountains and try to get closer. heading up from thorsmork (Þórsmörk) one of Icelands most beautyful valley the hike was easy and I was roaming around in the mountains most day just having a nice time taking pictures of the glaciers and the vally eand enjoying the fine weather. In the evening around 6 I got to the spot I had figured out that could give me a nice view over the Volcano. The mountain was crowed with people and I have never ever seen so many in the mountains of Iceland at any given time before. the it was just to sit down and wait. An our later an eruption occured in the crater and it strted spewing this nice and beautyful flow of lava into the air.
Then it was just the case of capturing it. I had already settled for a long exposure time trying to make it into more poetic vision. This is the result. Enjoy.
Development was done in Canon DPP and also in photomatix pro. Combining everi thing in Photoshop with a complex set of layers and enhancements trying to get strong color with out going over the edge
