The way I see it - Stewart the chef

Doing Raw street photography in black and white, like in this image of the chef of Likangers Cafe Herman grilling for people at a festival night, is nice. In its simplicity it draws me back to the days when I used the Yashicamat 124G camera and the fun of using that for candid shots. This one is as simply done as there can be and the more I go out with my camera the more I leave behind of lenses and junk. One camera, one lens and maybe a flashgun like in this instance.. Those are the tools needed to make a picture. The rest of the tools are in your vision and mind.

Development of this image was done in Adobe photoshop by tweaking twisting and turning on all the knobs that there is to find until satisfied. I am getting closer to a point where i can satisfy my self with black and white conversion in digital photography, but it has taken some time. Next step and the most difficult one is getting it out on print. There is a long way from the screen to the final fin art print in black and white. Even more so in BW than in color.

The upcoming Photokina wil hopefully help me in decide what paper, printer and ink combination I am going to use in my future projects. If I do not find the right one I might have to dive into Platinium printing. But that is an all to gather different ball game even thoug it would be fun.
